The Oculus at the World Trade Center is one of the most spectacular architectural achievements in the world. The building features numerous steel-clad steel ribs that sprawl up and out in a gesture symbolic of a hand releasing a dove. It was designed purposely by Daniel Libeskind and Santiago Calatrava so that the structure’s orientation serves as a reminder of the 9/11 attacks.

Nowadays, the Oculus serves primarily as a transportation hub, connecting Lower Manhattan with New Jersey. There are also plenty of retail shops, restaurants, and leisure spaces!

Pro Tip: There is a platform on the west end of the Oculus where you can get an Instagram photo with perfect symmetry. Come in the early hours or late at night to have it all to yourself!

  • Entrance Fee: No
  • Opening Hours: 24/7

Having the Empire State Building in your Instagram photo is amazing, but you could take it to the next level and check out the two observation decks – one on the 86th floor and the other on the 102nd floor. The views up there are some of the best panoramic views of NYC.

Though the interior of the establishment is stunning, it is more known for its eye-catching neon signs on the front.

Central Park is one of the most popular parks in New York City. The park was originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux and it opened in 1857. The park is famous for its beautiful landscaping, rolling hills, and lakes.

What many visitors don’t know about Central Park is its size. It spans a total of 51 blocks and covers 3.41-kilometer squares. It shouldn’t surprise that it is home to several of the best NYC instagrammable places.

Our favorite ones are:

  • Bethesda Terrace
  • The Pond
  • Bow Bridge

Bethesda Terrace is probably the most famous photo spot in Central Park. It is an arched, interior walkway that connects the awe-inspiring Bethesda Fountain to the Mall. The design is elegant and harmonizes with the nature of Central Park.

The Pond is located in the southeastern corner of Central Park. It boasts a unique view of NYC with The Pond and nature in the foreground and iconic skyscrapers in the back. It is also home to the Gapstow Bridge, an elegant bridge that arches over The Pond.

Bow Bridge is a beautiful bridge that connects the Mall to the Ramble. It was built in 1862 and a gorgeous banister. It is known as one of the most romantic spots in NYC!

If there is one place to take photos in New York City, it has to be Times Square. Not only is it a place that truly demonstrates NYC’s nickname “The City That Never Sleeps”, but it is also filled with bright lights and catchy signs that make taking photos easy. It is also one of the spots where you must take a photo for Instagram to “prove” to your followers that you have been to NYC.

Our favorite spot in Times Square to take photos is on the TKTS red stairs. If you look south from there, it offers some of the best views of Times Square!

  • Location: Midtown Manhattan
  • Entrance Fee: Free
  • Opening Hours: 24/7 (Come on! It’s Times Square!)

At the entrance of the library, there are two stone lions that serve as the symbol of the library and for us, a great place to take some photos.

Though the exterior of the building will take your breath away, the interior is even more stunning. With its Beaux-Arts architectural style, it feels like you are in an extravagant mansion.

The most photogenic part of Grand Central Terminal is unquestionably the Vanderbilt Hall. Serving as the main entrance area, this expansive space features historical decor and an extravagant ceiling.

But if you look up, you will see a cast-iron bridge that connects two buildings with different addresses. The bridge is situated three stories tall and was once used to connect different parts of the New York Hospital.

Nowadays, the sky bridge makes a perfect photo opportunity on this narrow street of NYC.

Flatiron-Building-Instagrammable-NYC
Flatiron Building is famous for its unique shape!

The Flatiron Building is an iconic structure in NYC known for its triangular shape that looks like a cast-iron clothes iron. It was designed by Daniel Burnham and Frederick Dinkelberg and completed in 1902. At the time, it was one of the tallest buildings in New York City, especially around the Flatiron District.

To get a good Instagram photo of the Flatiron Building, you might have to get on the road. That is because the shape of this NYC landmark is quite difficult to capture. You can also try capturing it from the adjacent Madison Square Park. You will definitely want a wide-angle lens and a photographer to help take your photo!

  • Location: Flatiron District

The Edge Observatory

The Edge is one of New York’s latest observation decks, but this time with a twist. It is the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere with a unique design that makes you feel like you are suspended in the air. In fact, if you look at the observation deck from afar, it literally looks like it is hanging off the side of the building, 100 stories above the ground.

In our opinion, The Edge is the best observation deck in NYC, simply due to the design and the clear glass facade that offers unobstructed views. Come here for sunset for the best Instagram photo opportunity. The night view here is also spectacular, perfect if you are looking for something to do in NYC at night.

The Charing bull is one of the most classic symbols of Wall Street’s financial prosperity. The sculpture was created by artist Arturo Di Modica and erected in 1989, and its presence on Wall Street has become a symbol of strength and power.

Besides an excellent photo op in the heart of the financial district, visitors can rub the bull’s testicles for good luck. In fact, if you come on a popular day (such as the weekend), there is a queue for rubbing the back of the bull and another queue for taking a photo with it from the front!

The Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center differs every year, but it is usually around 75-ft-tall, making it one of the tallest Christmas trees in the world.

An Instagram photo at the Christmas Tree in NYC is a must if you get the chance, but just keep beware of the crowds near the Rockefeller Center during the holiday season! If you like murals and bright colors in your Instagram photos, then Doyer St in Chinatown is a must-visit for you. During the Chinatown Mural Project of 2021, a new tribute mural was created on Doyer street to honor the photographer Corky Lee.

The mural covers the entire street and spans a total of 200 feet, making it one of the most Instagrammable streets in NYC.

Additionally, the street is now only open to pedestrians, so visitors can have an easier time getting the perfect Instagram photo.

However, we must warn you, there are tons of people there daily. But if you ever get tired from posing for your photo, you can relax in the speakeasy Apotheke, go have dim sum at Nom Wah Tea Parlor, or even get a cheap haircut at one of the barbershops on Doyer Street.

One of the most unusual Instagrammable places in NYC is the graffiti tunnel located at 191st Street Subway Station. The graffiti tunnel is a 1,000-foot-long tunnel that connects the station at St. Nicholas Avenue to an entrance on Broadway.

The dark and dingy passageway troubled locals, so the city had commissioned talented artists to turn it into what you see today.

It is an excellent spot to take Instagrammable photos in NYC, especially since it doesn’t receive tons of foot traffic!
